Hello all,
I took this photo during the weekend and it is one of my first macro attempts. I would like to hear your opinion on the DOF, the composition and the necessity of further editing. Thanks!

cs77, Welcome

Having used a magnifying lens for about a year, I'm curious about your method. Your results are good, shallow DOF and sharp image where you focus. This is the better of the four white blooms on your photostream, mainly because the Sun has given your colors a good boost. It will nearly always be better to include all the pistil/stamen in Macros, to give a more complete view. Overall, a good Macro.

Hello jiminyClickit,
thank you for your comments, it is important to get feed-back on your photos from more experienced people. As for my technique of using a magnifying lens, I shot in aperture priority and macro mode. I don't know if this is a good method and if you have some suggestions, I would like to hear them. Again, thank you for your input.

cs77,

This is the setup I started with, just barely able to keep magnifying loupe centered over lens, and believing Macro mode was best:

Now, with some plastic parts to hold just the magnifying glass, and using Normal mode to shoot in (which means Zoom is available):
