I took the colored one and duplicated the layer, erased out the eyes and blurred around her.
Any suggestions? Comments?

I like it. Though I think I can see a bit of grey still around the edges of the eyes. So maybe just a bit more precision there.
Tedious though I know.

My main issue with it is the softness. Have you tried doing a high-pass sharpen? It brings out incredible detail in her hair while preserving your depth of field blurring.

A vignette might also help draw attention to her. On a new layer, try drawing a circular gradient centered on her face, rather than on the center of the frame, and then setting that layer to soft light. I find it gives a more natural gradient. You can also play with the layer opacity if it's too strong.

All criticism aside, that is an adorable picture :)

She has beautiful eye color, but it's a little bit shocking... have you thought about a bit of color in the rest of the picture, but still desaturated?

I like both the ideas already written. If you leave it desaturated, I might bring down the saturation of the eyes a tad. What a lovely child!

I agree that the eyes are a little to bright. That sounds funny, but take the saturation down to about 80-85% and see if it doesn't help a little. Also, the blur might be less overbearing if you didn't blur her shirt out.

I love it the way it is... But since you ask :D
The idea of more color on the pic but still desaturated is my option, maybe a very desaturated yellow for the hair, she is blond, right? And a nudge lower the saturation on the blue eyes.
