hellooooo everybody!!! (and thank you for visiting my photograph:) )
i'm bloody beginner (got my 400d for half a year) and i would apreciate all kind of critique on this! I played around with a tele-objective (or whats the word in english?o_O *so sorry*) a friend of my father borrowed me. i was so astonished he did so!!! anyway, i have no idea how to use it and just tried out some things... the macro-function is absolutely stunning!!! already in love with it^.^
i'm annoyed as i cant figure out how to get rid of that "white-touch" in the picture, has it something to do with "white balance"?? the colours are faded, or should i change the contrast?
(by the way... did i insert the file correctly? it looks so small..)
do you like the perspective??? (i couldnt get lower on the ground;) ) what about the focus??? please gimme some feedback!!! thanks:) have a good night (or day, whereever you are:)

Such a cute little nose! We can just click on the image to make it larger, I like the picture, so I don't think you need to worry.

I don't know if you are familiar with the different photo editing programs that are available or not, so you may not know about GIMP. GIMP is a FREE photo editing program that you can download from the internet here; http://www.gimp.org/ This program is a good way to learn about layers and masking techniques. Although not as many options as "Photoshop", this program does allow the user to edit photos as well as add artistic touches to create that "One-of-a-kind" image. For your shot, all I did was click on the "Auto white balance" to acheive the needed fix. I'm not familiar with your camera (all I have is an older Sony), but you should be able to set your white balance, in camera, to prevent needing to edit afterwards. I really like the composition on this shot. The angle adds to the interest, and the point of focus (squarely on the nose), draws the eye into the shot and keeps it there. Very nice work.

P.S.
If you wish NOT to have your photos Edited by others, simply say so, and I'll remove my edit of your shot. Thank you for posting.

i love the intimacy that this perspective lends.....and the detail on his nose is wonderful.....in my opinion, the depth of field is marvelous....
the blown out white in the upper left can only be avoided by taking a good long look through your view finder before you click the shutter......high contrast backgrounds are best avoided at the get go....moving left or right can go a long way to changing their impact without sacrificing your subject or perspective.....
thanks for sharing

hi again!! thank you for your comments, guys!!!
i tried to follow the 'rule of thirds' in this shot, i'm not quite sure if it worked (or if it has to work always....) when i crawled on the floor around his face, i wanted to make sure that the nose, of course, is in the foreground/focus but also that you can see the closed eye following the nose into the background... the hole nose would be too long from a more sideway perspective, so i thought frontal might be the best; is it???
@FocalFrenzy: i have just the 'basic' editing software attached by canon, it doesnt quite meets my expectations. i tried to change the white balance but didnt get a satisfying one. i like your editing of my pic, its so clear!! is there a chance to get some kind of a midway? its a bit too dark, to contrastive, but on mine, as said, the colours look so faded... by editing I just slightly changed the colour saturation and the brightness (*waaah* by changing brightness/contrast/white balance the ’right one’ never turned out°(-_-)° )
@Windrider: exif data, huh?? let me see... u mean the information my cam shows me on the shot, right??
--> F/8; 1/10seconds; ISO 400; 176mm... what can you tell me with this information?
okay, thank you all, thank you for the advise!!! i really appreciate it!!

it tells you lots of things. Altho I am not the greatest at putting into words on how things should be (see) it tells us what apertaure you shot at which afftects your depth of field, the iso would tell us how the lighting is affected and your shutter speed tells us such things as if there is a blur because you shot it with a too slow of a shutter speed. make any sense?
Anyway for critique purposes it helps

and what does it tell you about my picture?o_O
i mean, can you tell me if i should have choosen another ISO or shutter speed or sth. to get a better effect?? i just chosed them without purpose. (well, subjective point of view, of course...)
