I would say that colour would look better, as b/w is making it look a bit flat, and maybe a primary subject in the foreground like a branch hanging out, a flower etc.

Diagonal in that downward direction takes viewer out of frame; flipping left for right helps some. The pure white blowout in background is very much an attention-getter, not in a way that serves the photo. Less uneven light in the b/g would give viewer more chance to appreciate the fern details. A good idea to pursue with many more shots.
