what ya'll think...
How could i have improved on this shot... it almost seems like the clarity in the reflection is a distraction??

Did you boost the saturation?
The horizon is crooked and io think there is too much background to really make this guy stand out. Perhaps a closer crop might do the trick

maybe a tighter crop and a higher vantage point? :)

i am a big fan of reflections in an image.....so, no, in my opinion, the reflection isn't a distraction......but, more of a enhancement....
the cropping is awkward, and i agree with the above posters that some improvement is due there.....if you have a larger original frame to work with, consider experimenting with the crop to feature the croc more prominently.....
it is a busy frame with all the trees and their reflections competing with the subject....

heespharm,
Does this have the same effect you wanted? It really does show your title intention better, looks less cluttered, is level and has a composition nearer that 'thirds' harmony. The shape of the frame is still a question of choice; I might have gone for the rest of the tail, since you already have a very long crop. Also some slight vignette of darkness could bring more focus on alligator.
So which one would you hang at home?
