Took this shot for class and thought it turned out well. This was taken for an exercise to take a macro shot and add the style of old black and white film. Though I don't think it fully looks like a traditional black and white, I think the finished photo turned out pretty well.
To take the photo I used a white poster board that I placed the crocodile on. I used an external flash on the camera. Don't have a tripod and I didn't borrow one of my school's tripod, though I wish I had.
In photoshop, I desaturated the photo, tuned shadows and highlights, added a gray fill layer and then added noise to that layer, and added gaussian blur to the fill layer and a little gaussian blur to the other layer. The fill layer was set to overlay mode and the opacity was lowered to about 10-25%. Any comments appreciated.
Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel
Exposure: 0.077 sec (1/13)
Aperture: f/29
Focal Length: 31 mm
ISO Speed: 100
Exposure Bias: 0/3 EV
Flash: Flash fired
