I was down at the lake the other day and took this shot of the swings in the snow. There was something about it that I just like but can't put my finger on it. Do you like the shot, or not?

Yes; I like it. I think I can articulate why:
glowing snow makes a perfect backdrop to make the contrasting swing seats pop out in the photo
there is a bonus linear quality with the poles and the swing chains
It is uncluttered with degrees of minimalism
something in "threes" was captured which we are told is a good thing...that I do not understand why but likely it's a human convention of sorts
PS: this shot would have been better for me, as a viewer, if the branch in top right corner was not there.
PS:everything is in 3's or divisible by 3: 3 poles, 3 swing seats, 6 single chains...has mathematical symetry so-to-speak.

Cracking 3D effect  Agree about loosing the twig.

beautiful job you've done exposing for this scene.....your snow has a believable tint and is not in the least bit gray......and your swings retained plenty of detail......
the background trees and branches are a distraction, but, i get the feeling that this shot is basically straight out of the camera......and for that, you should be exceptionally proud.....
nice image....

Great work keeping the snow from looking gray. Your choice to use a small aperture, and deep depth of field make the photo very interesting. I also like the contrast between the hard lines of the swing and posts, and the sweeping curves of the snow on the ground.
