I like how this turned out. I was just trying different shots with my new 50mm f/1.8 lens.

Exposure: 0.2 sec (1/5), Aperture: f/1.8, ISO Speed:100
Your thoughts please and thank you!

I think perhaps more spoon and a less distracting background could help this one out. As it is, without the title, I would have a hard time figuring out what was going on in this image.
A groovy effect and I like the contrast between the softness of the background and the reflections on the mug. However, I'm not sure about the framing. My instinct is to want to see it cropped to a vertical frame and also to want to see more at the top and bottom. Assuming you don't have a photo from further back, you could sketch it out and then use some offcuts of paper (or just your hands) to experiment with different possibilities.

sorry for such a late comment.....i usually have only the weekends for any kind of quality critique time.....
i love seeing a creative thought process.....i am assuming that it is instant coffee coming off that spoon and i particularily like the strands it makes as it's dumped into the mug.....
i agree that a different crop would improve this image tremendously......wulf's idea of the portrait orientation might be quite effective....
thanks
