in my opinion.. save your money!!! i brought some attachment lenses for my Minolta and i wish i hadn't.. i never used them because of all the aberrations (purple fringing) and soft focus...

just my 2cents worth...

don't buy one. they're garbage. i had an S3 last year and had a wide angle and telephoto attachment. thy did not help with image quality and the edges were terrible.

i wound up selling my S3 maybe 2-3 months after i purchased it and picked up a DSLR instead. it's a nice camera, but didn't offer me everything i wanted. either way, it's a great camera to get used to manual settings. i mostly shot in manual which i had never done with another camera

if you don't have another camera, i'd say keep it. i probably should have kept mine, but i had 2 other P&S cameras and didn't think it was necessary to have 4 different cameras!

I found myself in the same situation. I upgraded to a D-SLR within a month of buying my S3 IS. I sold my S3 on Craigslist. I lost about 40 bucks overall but that was OK. I had a lot of response to my ad. A few low offers, but I got asking price.

I sometimes wished I still had it but don't miss it a whole lot, as what little shooting our weather has allowed, I've been busy learning my Rebel XTi.

However, my GF recently decided she wanted a nicer digital camera and wanted to play some with photography, but not as seriously as I am. She bought an S3 a couple of weeks ago. Heck, I probably could have gotten full price for mine from her. ;-)

I'd suggest hanging on to it for 3-6 months. If you don't use it, then sell it and put the cash towards a lens for your D-SLR.
