Nikon just announced a new DSLR - the Nikon D40X (http://www.livingroom.org.au/photolog/reviews/nikon/nikon_d40x.php).

Ultimately it's the same camera as the D40 but it has a 10 megapixel sensor, 3 frames per second burst mode and a larger ISO range (100-1600 or 3200 in Hi-1).

There's also a new lens - the Nikon AF-S DX VR 55-200mm Lens (http://www.livingroom.org.au/photolog/lenses/nikon_afs_dx_vr_55200mm_lens.php)

Gosh! There has hardly been any time since the D40 came out! I wonder if the plan is to replace the D40 (which would make me a bit miffed, since that's what I invested in) or run the two side-by-side at different price points?

The lower ISO setting would appeal (more scope for taking slow-shutter pictures during daylight hours) but neither of the other two upgrades appeal to me personally (although I can see they might look good in the market place).

The lens looks appealing though. Perhaps they also have a (much-demanded) 50mm prime auto-focusing lens in the works?
