I'm working on a series of B&W photos of hands. I'm interested in opinions on composition and exposure.

This is my first post to this forum, so please be kind.

It's a really great image. The only thing I would consider doing is cropping it to isolate the hands and the pot. If you're doing a series on hands you should should try to make them appear to be the subject. To me, it seems like you are documenting the act of making a pot rather than the hands that do it.
I know it looks nice, but is there another reason for using black and white?

Mike.

Thanks for your kind words.

I'm using black and white because I think hands themselves are very expressive, and I want to concentrate on form and not color. Also because I've done very little B&W photography, and I want to get some experience seeing in that way.

I'm considering your suggestion about cropping, but I'd hate to lose that highlight on the wheel in the lower right.

I agree w/ above comment. If you crop so the hands and pot are only in the pic, even if somehow you could sharpen focus on the hands and soften the pot. It is really good !!!!
