Eclipse Pic - Fuzzy Image

Could someone tell me why I get that fuzzy image to the lower left of the moon? I don't think it's my lens (Canon Zoom EF 75-300mm). I've had this happen before when taking pictures at night. Is it because the exposure is too long? Thanks for the help!

I don't see the fuzz you are describing but noted that your exposure was 2.25 seconds (resulting in overexposure) so I would guess it is either camera movement on the tripod or the fact that the earth is rotating and may have caused the problem. When I was shooting the eclipse last night, I was more in the 1/50 to 1/100 second range.

That's kind of what I was figuring too. It was too blasted cold out to fiddle around with it though! 5 below gets to a person real quick! I don't think it was camera movement because the stars are pretty sharp. Thanks for your input. I will try quicker shutter speeds next time, and hopefully it will be warmer!

It could be some lens flare in amongst the boundaries between the different elements in your lens? Bright lights (and the moon is one) can cause refraction and reflection within the lens leaving artefacts. This would be consistent with it occurring near the moon but not the stars as your lens is receiving far less light from them.

Oh !!!!! what an awsome shots from all of you and I had missed cos me was out of town.
Instead I had shots this in Singapore during their Airshows 2008.

Hope you like it and gave some comments for my improvement, I used Canon Rebel Xti 400D, Sigma 18-200mm DC OS lens plus kenko CPL for this shots.
