jessacita, Welcome
While we are encouraging everyone to post full-size (600-pixel longest side) photos, otherwise you did fine.
If while framing Nappie, you had moved a little left or right, up or down, or had found that pose and expression at another time of day (luck, I know), the green might have been avoided. It can be removed with a lot of cloning and selective darkening. How important is this particular shot to you, and at what level is your editing skill?

the picture was full size (600 x 400)...but when I uploaded it through the site...it came out as a thumbnail...any idea what I did wrong?
I just took this for fun...though I really like it...I guess it's not all that important to me...but I would love to be able to fix it....and as far as my post skills...I don't have much experience in that area and I have never used the techniques you suggested...but I could certainly read up about them and give it a try.
Thanks,
Jess :)

Hi Jess and welcome. The green spot appears to have been caused by flare from stray light entering the lens and bouncing off the lens elements. I noticed that your background was very bright and therefore may have been the cause. If you post the kind of software you use to manipulate your photos, some of the experts here may be able to provide more specific help in that area.

I only know how to use iPhoto on my mac but I have several programs on my PC that can be used that I just recently discovered: Digital Photo Professional, ArcSoft Photo Studio, Zoom Browser EX, and Jasc PaintShop Pro 8. I think most of these actually came with my camera.

jessacita,
None of your programs will get you to this point in an edit. I use an 8-year old Adobe PhotoDeluxe program ($40 on eBay), simple and effective. It's a matter of selecting areas of Nappie separately, lightening, darkening, contrasting, erasing, and cloning.
Save your photo: it will provide great practice material.

Jiminy,
I love how your edit brings out his eyes and fixes the dreaded green spot!...I know it's not proper technique but I quite like the overexposed light in the upper right corner...do you think it just definitely does NOT work and would need to be darkened like in your edit?
Everyone feel free to comment as well please
Thanks,
Jess :)

jessacita,
That would be edit #3, before I put the negative copy on to make Nappy stand out. You could leave the ear a little lighter with the brightness behind it. That's the highest value of edits: whatever you can imagine and choose to do, there's a way. I still have the layers if you want to see how the overX looks.

that would be amazing if it wouldn't be too much trouble for you
