This Canon A610 is a compact 5.0 Mega Pixel camera which is small enough to carry in my fanny pack. It takes really good pictures in low light situations such as an ice skating arena and is easy to upload to my computer for editing or further uploading to a picture save and email site. It takes really good action shots of my grandson at the playgound and movies of birthday parties. When I want a lot of good shots I also use a Minolta Maximum 70 (film) while my daughter is using the digital to get the shot from a different angle. I really like the movie option since I can get some good candid shots with the option of printing a single image that is really heart stopping. I have used film camera for 45 years and love the depth so I will not give that up but the fact that I can get so many shots in a little amount of time sold me on the digital format and gave me something new to learn. I don't get the technical details of the camera since I am into photography for the art of it and I have found that this little Cannon just warms the cockles of my artistic heart. The only quarrel I have with it is the lack of lens options. I love to use different lenses for a variety of effects but do not have the option with it.
