i'd like to start using my flash off my camera. what adapters would you suggest? wired? wireless?
i was thinking of picking up a second, cheaper, flash as well. whatever option i go with i'd like to make sure i'm able to use multiple flashes with it. i know there are options like the pocket wizards, but at nearly $200 a pop, that's not what i'm looking for.

what are the best choices? good prices?

any opinions on either of these?

Hey Darren, maybe you could put together a good flash piece for the front page? doesn't seem like anyone on here uses them much. it'd be handy to have rather than having people go to strobist (although that website is extremely helpful).
just a thought.

Seems like the price difference between the two products you linked to wasn't that much. If it was me, I'd go for the wireless one simply because it could allow you more freedom and creativity. I didn't realize those things could be had for such a good price. If you get one, report on it.

good suggestion for a tutorial - I'll add it to the list (it's a long list).

If anyone does feel like writing a tutorial I'd love to publish it.

i'm no expert but i've been happy with the stroboframe pro-t (http://www.tiffen.com/Stroboframe_ProT_page.htm) that i have, along with the canon off-shoe cord.

If your using it for studio photography and using the flash in a remote location then I suggest the wireless one. From other flickr groups I've read that your making bet when you purchase one. It could be the best working never fail or It fires for no reasons, it won't fire or won't work after 10ft.

So Becareful!

I hate to hi-jack but It almost the same subject. What are the benefits of having a Off-Camera flash on one of the Hand brackets. I've made one for a buddy and I still have no clue why having the flash moved 5 inches makes a difference.

after talking to a handful of people on Strobist, i decided to go with the 'ebay' set up. lots of people that have had them for a while say they work fine even with canon flashses. there are some mods you can do to increase the strength so the flash can be set further apart and other mods to ensure mis-firing doesn't happen.
either way, for $30 i figured why the hell not. future receivers are only $12 so if these work fine and i want to add more they're considerably cheaper than the alternatives. not as good, sure, but cheaper.
