As the weather here is still awful, and iam having no luck with the smoke tutorial that Nicole posted. well, they are not as good as some of the ones people on here have posted. So i thought id try playing with some pics i took a while back of eyes using photoshop. Here are just three of what came out. quite simple really. Any thoughts or C&C is allways welcome.

I think they pretty darn good. I saw a commercial last night that gave me some ideas on people with just one eye.
Perhpas yoyu wouldnt mind sharing how you aquired this effect? ok pretty please!
Remember the rules say ONE critique thread per day and ONE photo per critique thread. I've removed the other two pictures - you can either post links to them for those who want to browse further into what you have been doing or bring them back once conversation has started about this picture.

Definitely something away from your norm Carl!
I like the effect. Did you displace a texture to get it to contour to your face?
This would be a good how I did it thread.....
I'd like to hear the workflow.

This would be a great shot with an explanation for "How I Did It". All us bored winter weary people need something new to try!

To be honest, i didnt think thread this would get any replies at all. It's not your normal type of photo's to be posted on here. As you know by now, iam not good at explaining my self. I try not to open my mouth to often, as i tent to upset people. Would it be better if i just made a video tutorial?.
Regard Carl.

i'm with you on those smoke pictures, carl....they look far easier than they actually are......
i love the eye image....and the other images that you linked to........i was going to ask the same question as earlier......and without the benefit of the video, i assume you used a displacement map for your textures.....
good concept, well executed....

Thanks for sharing this carl and please do feel free to speak up. I DLed and unpacked the video and ended up needing to install a codec(TechSmith Screen Capture Codec (http://www.techsmith.com/download/codecs.asp)) to view the tutorial. It's a little quick but that's why god created the pause button. :D
In short, the original face is brightened and tonal contrast is faded. Then the iris is reddened and the whites are brightened. The Liquify filter is used to shape the brow and pupil. The texture layer is added and set to Multiply with an 80% opacity. Color dodge and burn tools are used to customize the look.
carl, I have YouTube account I'm not really doing anything with. Would you mind if I posted it there so people wouldn't have to worry about DLing, unraring and codec issues?

Sure, i have no problem with that. i dont like there compression, u tend to loose a lot of detail, but go ahead. do with it as you please.
