This so looks like a little hear-no-evil monkey pose! Anyway I'd love any critique you have on color, focus and exposure. My critique of myself are that obviously the comp with chopped hands isn't good. I could probably also do with cloning out that light green line coming out of his head.

Thanks! :)

Hi Kathryn Wilson,

I find your photo lovely; and by my eye with excellent color and focus. The skin tone is particularly natural. I presume by your comment that this is the original photo composition. That being so, you have picked up on those issues you mentioned. Be great to see your EXIF too.

Oh sorry!

Taken at ISO400, f5.6, SS1/100.

I have done Curves, Color Pop for the background, and sharpen on this.

Beautiful. The eyes are very captivating, and I especially love the skin texture in the babe's right hand (camera left), and the light fall-off across the face.

I think the hand chop is forgiveable, in a fill-the-frame kind of shot. And the green line is there, but doesn't really compete for attention. I suppose if you had asked me to try to find fault, I might have eventually said something about the green line -- but even then I am not sure.

For me the only thing you might think about is the bright triangle in between left thumb and hand. It is brighter than the rest of the background and stands out a bit for that reason. Because it is part of the frame of the chin and cheek, and because it is bright, it gets a bit in the way. I have to look down to sort out where chin starts and bright stuff ends -- unlike the rest of the photo where you have lovely separation between subject and background.
