I think I have shown this pic on another thread somewhere but I wanted to put it up here for critique. Caught this guy in flight right above me while using the canon 70-200mm with the 2X extender. This is not a cropped image it is as I shot it with some very minor adjustments to bring out some more color.

Jonas....I think the cut off wings is something thats distracting me but other than that its a great catch! Real nice and clear....I think a white vignetting effect would give it a great look. I recently saw a shot that did this to disguise the cut subject.

Wow great shot man, I do with the whole subject was in frame but I don't find it too destracting. I would also like to see a more vivid sky that could possibly make the bird pop a bit more.

I was at the beach shooting this weekend and tried to get some of these guys in flight...... lets just say they didn't turn out to well lol. Nice capture!

I agree with Pinball here but on the other hand if it weren't cropped in so close you would probably lose the great detail of the grey feathers around the eyes. I guess it all depends on what you were going for, the motion of the bird in flight or the details of the bird. Beautiful shot either way!

To be honest it was just a lucky snapshot that blew me away with how good the details were considering how close to me and how fast I was having to pan to try to keep up with the bird. I suppose if I had followed a bird that was farther away and got the whole bird in the frame I might have been able to crop it down and achieve alot of details as well. But considering how many zoo pics I have taken of the animals while they are sitting still and did not have near this much detail as the bird does I was truly impressed with it. Thanks for the input :)
