The reflection in your glasses was the first thing that caught my eye and was very distracting. There is also (a window sil ?) to the upper right that could be cropped out.
As far as the angle goes I think it is fine granted you control the reflection in your glasses. Side profiles are risky if someone has a large and especially long nose but this is not the case for you.
There are many other photographers on here that are far more experienced than I with critiquing photo's. However, I just wanted to give you my 2 cents worth.

Nothing wrong with the angle itself or even for you... but the crop of the angle is not quite right and there are quite a few distracting elements in the background.

With the reflection, it needs to either be gone or crystal clear so it is the secondary (or even primary) subject of the photo. While it doesn't bother me that the top of the hat is missing, the missing tip of the chin does bother me. The brim of the hat also acts as an arrow that points my eye right out of the frame.

For portraits, the general rule is at least one eye clearly seen and in focus. You have good light, good skin tones, good DoF, and a willing subject..so keep working!

I'm not a fan of the crop either. I think a recrop so your chin is in frame and also a midtone curves boost, and then a couple of detail clone-outs and it would be pretty good.

i dont like to clean up blemishes on my black and whites i like them to be more raw and show real life.
