steve,

Creative angle on your shot! There is absolutely nothing on a guitar that I don't find beautiful. I could give you more information if you would include your EXIF (settings) with your post. I would like it if you would try this with a smaller aperature to get more DOF (less blur in background and foreground). Also, I like black and white, but I sure would like to see the color on that rosette around the soundhole. Compositionally, decide what your precise subject is in the photo because it seems that it is more particular than just the guitar. I just had this idea to get a clear shot of a portion of your guitar like this and then pluck the low E real hard and shoot the motion with a 1 second shutter....could have a fun motion shot there.

Looks like you have a good subject to work with there. The B&W does give it a nice rustic look. Often rosettes are merely an additional pattern without adding color so I don't feel I'm missing anything. The focal point seems to be the thin inlay strip instead of the herringbone(?) where I really want to look. I would like to see some of the 6th string more in focus so a bit more DOF would please me. I'm curious as to what it would look like with the string in motion.

I really like this shot. I actually enjoy the small DOF and the choice of B&W. It really makes the picture look vintage. The only change I might make is to crop the bottom portion a tiny bit. good job!

Just a friendly reminder to please include EXIF data when possible, and to ask specific questions to guide the critique. There's a link to the rules in my sig if you aren't sure.

Thanks.

here is the original, i'll post the exif data when i get home.

sideeffects: now that you mention it a crop would look nice at the bottom. i have a hell of a time with my framing.

Nice shot. I have thought of taking this same shot of my (very cheapie) guitar.

I think I would like it for the focus to be on the low e-string rather than on the body as it is now. Did someone already say something similar? I've been without the internet the last couple of days from the storms we've been having and I didn't look back through what I've read already a few days ago....

I like the B&W conversion and the composition other than the focus area as well. Actually, it's not that I don't like the focus point, you did well. I would like to see a shot focused on the low e as I said. Perhaps I'll have to do that with my shot.

A guitar is a fantastic subject for photography. Lot's of interesting things you can do with it.
