Another new Canon camera today - the Canon Powershot TX1 (http://www.livingroom.org.au/photolog/reviews/canon/canon_powershot_tx1.php) looks interesting.

7.1MP, 10x optical zoom and in the format of a video camera.

That is a very inviting camera, nice price, and I can use all my extra SD cards (though rather small recording time in HD)
