Default Pet Adoption Photos

Hi All,

Just thought I'd share a few photos from a couple of local rescue organizations. One rescues both cats & dogs, the other works to rehome dogs only. Both rescue all ages & breeds. Some of the animals are easier to photograph than others. Some are in really bad moods (cats who have been surrendered by owners after being with them for a long time-can't say I blame them!), some are eager to please, & those I can usually capture in a couple of frames. The difficult animals may take 20 shots to get one decent picture for the internet.

Lovely shots! I admire you for that. I am also helping out the shelter I volunteer at with photos for the animals. But none of mine have looked this good...I am hoping a little more practice will help!

Great photos!!!!

I would recommend to anyone who is practicing photography and needs a worth while subject to contact rescue groups. Petfinder is a website that is HUGE for per adoptions. Sadly a good photo breaks or makes a pet's chances of adoption.

There are tons of good rescue groups out there that would love a good (or even decent) photographer to donate some time and get some great shots of their pets up for adoption

Thanks Praline, there is no doubt that a bad photograph can affect the ability to adopt out an animal vs something better. It doesn't come without pitfalls though. Last Sunday, I got home scratched & bitten pretty badly by an unhappy cat. I had to take lots of inflammatory meds & use antibiotic cream for a few days. But really it wasn't all her fault, as she was an owner surrender after being with the same woman for almost 7 years. :-( Breaks my heart! I think I'd be pretty mad too in those circumstances. Hope she gets adopted & resettled. She's not a bad cat...it's just an unfortunate situation.

More rescue photos...just thought I'd repost to this thread instead of creating a new one. :-)

This one is a beautiful calico kitten. She was so easy to photograph.

Toodles

This little guy was a lot of fun too! Caught this shot on the very first try.
Bruno

This handsome fellow was much harder to work with. He's considered an exotic Bengal. He was either dumped by his owner or escaped & was living wild. He's not very fond of people, & I must have taken 25 or so photos. Took him a while to settle down & let me do my job. Out of all of them, I'd say this one was the best of the bunch.
Simba

This handsome boy was also easy to photograph.
Charlie

I hope they all get adopted soon!

I wish I could adopt them all. It is sad to see so many animals in shelters. Great shots though. They all look very happy.
