Very nice pet pic. Curious how you achieved the nice black background?

We ask that photos aren't cross posted into multiple areas of the site at once. I've dropped the copies in Share Your Shots, which came after this.

What you can do is put the picture in SYS a few days later, once the discussion has died down over here.

Thanks,

Wulf

Sterling about the background, I could have done a better job I just kind of rushed it but There was actually a red blanket in the pic at the top of the couch(just a little bit of it showed), then there were sun glares off the coach so I used the lasso tool a little at a time and used the natural blacks on the coach and painted them in. Blurred them a little then on the edges used the healing brush tool to blend them in.

Im still new to elements 8 so Im just experimenting. Im sure there are probably quicker ways. Thanks, I love this site and look fwd to learning so much more.

Well you did a great job with it. IMO, that black background makes it look like a studio shot while the leather sofa and pillow (not to mention the sleeping dog :-)) show it was a candid. I'm always taking photos of my dog but she never seems to pose where the background looks good. But your shot has provided some inspiration.

Great composition and exposure. Lighting was perfect. And I must say you have a cooperative dog right there.

Cheers!
