Default blue tit in it's environment

I recently took this picture of a blue tit climbing in its shelter with my nikon D90+ 70-300 vr
Even though I know the shot as already been taken, I would apreciate if you could give me any advice on how I could have had a better result.
Keep in mind that even though it is the first picture I'm actually happy with, I'll take any advice you can give.

There's some lovely texture on the tree and the out of focus branches in the background have got a wonderfully wobbly effect thanks to being behind the sharp zone of the photo. It is almost a shame that the blue tit was there, sitting in the centre of the shot.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of sharp detail on him (looking at the larger size on Flickr) so there is not point cropping in too close but I think it would be worth considering some options with the rule of thirds in mind (do you know that one?), which would make the bird larger in the frame and placed in a stronger position.

Wow thank you very much for the quick and quite interesting answer.

I original intended to crop it to follow the rule of third, but like you, I was quite happy with the texture of the tree and the blurred branches of the background. with that said, I think that if I like this photograph as much as I say I do, then it deserve to get worked on a bit more.

Thanks again for your comment.
