The white balance seems a little off.

agreed - the shot is purple. Neat shot, though. Too bad there isn't more of the eagle there to enjoy. Maybe next time? I like the clarity of the bird. Just play with the colors in photoshop to fix it. also, do you know about the white balance options on your camera. When I got mine, I wasn't sure how to change it until someone told me.

Hi Mat,

here's your Eagle with white balance adjustment. I guess the pic was taken under flourescent lighting as it has a purple cast. I simply added some green and hey presto!

Take a look at the WB settings on your camera and adjust accordingly. Beter still, if you have custom white balance, take a look at how that works

Hope you don't mind me playing with your pic?

Cheers,

Jeff

Thank you everyone. As I said I'm new to the camera and white balance is definitely something I'm not used to playing around with. Guess I need to learn.

The shot itself was taken inside a white canvas tent. The only light was that coming through the canvas and the doors of the tent.

On your EOS 1000D, go to custom white balance, shot something white (like the Eaagle's head) to tell the camera that's white. Then you have perfect shots!

Read up that bit in the manual, it's well worth it.

Adding to Jeff's comments and excellent crop, you want to shoot in Camera Raw so that you can make corrections post shot while in the computer (such as change the white balance). I would also increase the exposure in the computer on the eagle within Lightroom or Photoshop. That will seperate the bird better from the background and make the picture pop more.
