Default On the look out...

I have never had a photo critiqued. Was wondering if you could give me a over all grading on this shot. I have a contest for wildlife coming up and thought this would help me. FIRE FOR EFFECT!!!!!!!!!!!
PS I only cropped the left and top a little.

I think it's an awesome shot! I might crop the bottom just a hair, but really, it's fantastic. I love the way the light falls and the focus you've chosen.

Jamie- were this my shot, I would look for less shadow on the lower right branch, and more of the subject closer up. These are not easy subjects. JMHO

Thank you J.r.... I followed him for a bit and this was the only shot of 10 or so that I was able to capture the whole animal. Thank you for your input.

The positioning of the squirrel is pretty good and the lines of the tree lead up to him pretty well. It does seem to me that the branch in front of him is a little more in focus than he is.

It has nice elements, but not wildly interesting. That may hinder you in a contest for wildlife depending on what the other entries may be.

Give it a try at entering it. You never know unless you try!
