Default Captive Tiger

I was at the zoo winter wild land and it turns out that night is the time to see lots of the animals active.

I was across a moat from the tiger and had to point the hot shoe flash right at the big guy to get a picture.

Does the tiger stand out as the subject of the picture?
Does the crop look ok?
In general what would you have done to improve the picture?

Thanks so much in advance.

I keep coming back to this to try and offer something brilliant to tell you on improving it. Butm I cant come up with anything as it looks pretty flipping good to me.

Thanks so much for the reply.

I thought it was a good picture but I think something is missing.

I can't figure it out.

Thanks again

Looks great to me. I like the way he is looking into the empty space.

I think there is very little that can be done to improve this excellent shot. I o tend to examine my "good" shots VERY carefully to see if there is anything that would improve the final result. Tiny things like a highlight, a bit of grass or a wig or cropping in even further. May I suggest removing the two black marks in the snow above the tiger's head as well as the orange object right on the left of the shot? Also, try cropping in even further on the right hand side. Lovely and sharp and excellent exposure. Very well done.
