Default Fat cat byron

2009 12 19_1119

olympus E-520
iso 100
exposure 1/60sec
f-stop 4.70
focal length 25mm
flash auto

I am a newbie and have not taken many indoor photos with this camera. This photo has not been edited at all. I don't like that I cut off the cats ear and I would like to know what settings I would use to establish more definition between the cats back and the background couch...all critics would be very much welcome
Thank you
Wendy

Hi I'm no pro myself, just some thoughts here. A bit more contrast would been nice. try add the saturation a bit to enhance the colors more and selecting your background carefully before clicking would have been easier. The cat sort of blends into the b/g .. positioning the b/g as far as possible from the cat can help, plus using a larger aperture to get more b/g blurr.
