This was a lucky shot on vacation in Bali. I was taking photos of some Buddha statues when this dragonfly landed right in front of me. I didn't have a macro, so I just shot this with the 50mm lens I had on the camera.
I'd like to know what I could have done better in the moment, and also what I can do with the image in PS to improve the shot. ![]() Canon EOS20D Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens Aperture f/3.2 Exposure 1/200 ISO 100

A closer crop so the the lil buger is filling the frame more

Great stuff! Maybe a tighter crop will help, right now, the thing on which the dragonfly is sitting takes toomuch attention.

Great advice - thanks. I'll have a go at a closer crop and see how it looks. I agree that the fence post is too distracting. I had another angle where the eyes were more visible, but the abdomen kind of drooped to one side.
