Default Big Bird Surprise

This is actually my first attempt at a bird pic. Any opinion welcome, I want to get better at this.

D90 18-200 VR

ISO 200

Heron

I had a day off work due to rain and since I work an hour away, it wasn't raining around home. Nice opprtunity to make some pics at the lake. I walked down to the lake shore and this guy was sitting right there! He never moved so I took a few shots.

Nice shot and if I am not mistaken that is a Blue Heron, a bit of adjustment on a color layer shows the birds true colors.

Nice capture.

Yup, that's one of my favorites...a Great Blue Heron. Gorgeous bird, and a gorgeous shot. Thank you for sharing!

I think armando did a good job bringing out some color.(I bet you would appreciate it more if he told you what he did ). Another thing that will help is cropping the land out of the background. It will make a stronger composition and bring more attention to the heron.

Masked the background and added some lens blur to the vegetation.
Color adjustment layer
Unsharpen layer
sharpen layer 23%
Saturation layer 12%
Drop shadow frame.

Nice colors, i'm not sure about the bird's true colors but from what I can see, the photo has a great flow with the colors and exposure.

My thought exactly...get rid of all the land.
