Oh man, that is a great shot. I love it when I click a link and the photo makes me chuckle. I think the monotone treatment is perfect - there's no need for colour to improve the story being told here. I quite like the rich brown of the background. I wonder if the light should be a little brighter? Is is a birthday party after all.

I love the pic, the blurred cake in the foreground and the dog's expression. I do agree that it could use some lightening up though. Great shot though, it made me smile!
