Default Kitty and Santa

Took this picture at our local Humane Society where I volunteer. I take pictures for the webmaster to put on the Humane Society Site which helps get the animals adopted. Put this kitty in Santa's Sack and with the help of another volunteer, ( who so kindly dressed up for me), took this picture to focus on the kitty more then Santa. Loved the soft look on the kittys face and the fact that you can't see Santa but the Cats eye direction eludes to it. Please tell me what you think.

um DChadwick....why did you post this in response to wijew's post??? anyways wijew, great shot, as for picasa, when you click to link to the image you have to change the size in the little dropdown box, its default is 144x144 which is why it is so small

The composition and idea for your photo are great -- the only problem I see is the focus is not sharp ...

The concept is good, but like crockny said, the focus is off. It also looks like the white balance should be adjusted to a slightly cooler setting, and the exposure is a little on the underexposed side, in my opinion.

I think you did a great job, but like the others have said , the only issues are white balance;underexposed;focus

It is very important to view your photos and histograms to make shure you got the exposure and focus you were after.

Here is a quick edit to correct the problems. I started by adjusting the levels---then lowered the WB ---Did a layer mask on the background to make it pure black (when i adjusted the levels the black got lighter)---Contrast layer---2 sharpening layers. This is what i ended up with, and probably what you were shooting for. I really like the shot, and if you can reshoot, try to get the exposure and focus spot on.
