Default My Cat

I'm new to the forum and I'm looking to improve my pictures. The family cats are always a great subject, so here is one of my favourites with my new digital SLR. Still trying to figure things out, so any advice is appreciated.

I like the cat itself - looks to be in sharp focus and I like the backlighting at the top of the head. The background is kind of cluttered. It's too bad you couldn't get him/her just in front of those central panels where one is dark and the other has what looks like diagonal streaks of light. It's funny how family pets never take the background into account when they strike a pose.

Try tightly cropping the image to remove some of the distarcting foreground and background. Other than that a good shot I think.

Great. Thanks for the comments. Here is the cropped version. I agree....not as busy now and more focused on the subject.
