The flash is too direct, making it harsh and giving shadow on the wall.
The cat is probably still wondering what happened in that second

With a f/2.8 and ISO changes available on that camera, you should be able to get much better results with no flash

Ok, thanks for the tips! I've gotten a new (and better!) camera since then, so hopefully I will get some better results!
