Talking Look at the eyes

My cat Koopa staring intensely ...I like the light in his eyes in this photo!

Canon Rebel XT

Shutter speed: 1/80
Focal length: 43mm
Aperture: f/7.1
ISO: 400

Absolutely no photoshop, aside from resizing and cropping.

Overall I am happy with this picture, though it could probably use a little tweaking. What do you think? Do you think the colors bright enough, and is the picture sharp enough?

Thanks for your help!

The square crop works really well for the subject, and you did a great job at filling the frame. Sharpness is also very good, especially since you stopped down to f/7.1

I would suggest a little bit more PP though. Using Levels in combination with increasing the saturation would work wonders on making this image pop.

You might also try using a wider aperture (such as f/5.6) and a lower ISO to improve your bokeh (drawing attention to the cat) and removing some of the noise.

Sharpness is very good. I think some colour adjustments would bring more fun in this pic.
Just try to adjust colour balance and a bit contrast.

The onbly suggestion I would have for this picture is to brighten the eyes up a little bit. Youre right, the reflection of the lights in the eyes are great but they are a little dark in the upper half of the eyes. Im not a wiz in PP but I know there is a thread on this site which will take you step by step and should make those eyes pop out at you. Nicely done!

Nice shot. Sharpness is good, and nice catchlights. I would prefer the colors to be a little brighter.

The only stupid question is the one that is never asked, except maybe “Don’t you think it is about time you audited my return?”
