First time shooting wildlife. What could I have done to get a better photo ? Thanks

ISO 100
Exposure 1/50 sec
F stop f/5.5
Metering mode Center Weighted Average.

That's a pretty cool picture. It left me to wonder, does the bird & youngster know the croc is there? I'm a newbie to all of this so I'm sure others will have more helpful things to say but I like it.

I am also new to this and maybe shouldnt be critiquing anyone. But... I didnt even notice the alligator on first look. Maybe focusing more on the alligator and less on the other two would help. Also, I wonder if taking the picture from behind the alligator, like lined up with him would give more dramatic effect.

I'm also wondering what the outcome of the stalk was? If you'd waited a few moments more you might have seen a lot more of the croc in attack mode than when he's trying to keep himself hidden!
