Default Who's Dog is Killing Sheep?

Would be interested to know what people make of this shot... too grim?

Taken on Bodmin Moor, Cornwall. I couldn't drive past it without taking a shot. Any general comments welcome.

that is a very compelling shot. I can see why you took it. I wonder if you had included a wider view of the scene if it would take away some of the goriness but still made the point. Plus from the looks of it, more of the foggy countryside might have added to the mystery/fear of what lies waiting out in the fog...

Thanks

I only had my 50mm lens with me and this seemed the best angle to get everything I needed into the scene whilst retaining impact, which I thought the shot should have. Ideally I'd have had a nice super wide angle lens on, but no such luck.

I didn't stay out of the car very long. It was pretty bleak up there this afternoon!

I think it must have been the Beast of Bodmin

It is an interesting shot, very gritty and 'real'...I could not have passed it up either!

I would have preferred not to have the rock cutting off part of the sign though...that's the first thing I noticed, and having noticed it, I keep looking at it..if you had moved over a bit so the sign was clear and got just a bit lower, more on the level with the sheep, I think it would have greater impact.

as far as the 'grim'...it is supposed to be grim...not everything in life is peaches and cream; photography is for catching all of life and you definitely caught a moment that shows life in that place and time..someone is pissed and someone's dog is gonna find a bullet...

definitely a once in a lifetime photo op though, great catch!

While the content of the picture is gruesome it's a really cool picture. I write novels & a lot of times I'll catch a picture that tells a story... yours does for me. That alone sets it up as an awesome picture to me. I like it.

Thanks! Yes, clipping the sign was a bit annoying

It's the first time I've done something remotely like photojournalism and I wondered whether people might find it offensive.

Great Shot & Great Pose.

That is why we have cameras. We love to record nature, family, pets, and reality.

Yes it's different. Why was the sheep their so long someone had time to put up a sign ? You did a great job recording civilization.
