Post B&W Animals

Hi everyone,

I went to Lincoln Park Zoo today, and got some great shots of the animals. However, when I copied them to my computer, the colors were not doing it for me, so I converted to black and white and worked with that. I'm relatively new to the whole B&W thing (I never shot film), so feedback on contrast, sharpness, and if the B&W works for animal shots would be great. I think it really pops the animals "expressions", but just my personal opinion. Please, click on the picture and see some of my other pictures from the set. I would be grateful!

Here is one that took me a while to get the tonal balance the way I liked it:

Burp

Thank you!

in order to get a good critique, you'll need to read the rules/guidelines for the critique section and include the information they ask for. Thank you in advance for doing so and then editing your post!
