Lazy Lady Beetle

Hi everyone!!!

Firstly, I am new here at dPS. So Hi!!

Ok so for Chrismtas Santa (aka my partner) upgraded my old camera to a beautiful Canon EOS Rebel 1000D What a surprise that was!

I have been playing around with the various settings and functions for the past few weeks and while I have had some terrible shots (as we all do... LOL) I have had a few that I absolutely love and adore. I would like everyone else's opinions too. What can I change? What could I have done better? Lighting etc... etc... Honest opinions please!

Camera- Canon EOS Rebel 1000D
18-55mm Lens
Setting- Macro (as I don't have my macro lens yet)
Manual Focus

This is a cute picture. I don't think the lady bug is completely in focus though. I also think it needs cropped differently because my eyes are drawn to the flower. There are much brighter areas on the flower that seem to detract from the little bug. I'm still learning myself but I think there's potential there and would love to see more of your work!

Thanks for the feedback! And I admit, I agree. I have a heap more pics taken on different angles etc... and this pic was fresh off the memory card with no cropping or post production work so there is definatly room for changes and improvement
