Default Heron at Rest

Photobucket

This was taken on the Municipal Pier in Pensacola, FL about 10:30 pm, thus the black background. Is the lighting adequate (it was done using just the street lights that were along the pier area) and should I crop any of the fence out or leave it as is? I thought that it brought out the bronzy, rusty color on the Heron).

Camera was Kodak Z981 on manual settings as follows:
Aperture: f/4.5
Shutter 1.5
ISO 64
Focal Length 57.7m
White Balance Fluorescent

I was using a tri-pod but it was a bit breezy that evening and the Heron did move a bit.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Ms. Faith

It's a great pose. Unfortunately it looks underexposed and a little out of focus. I would have tried some shots at a higher ISO and faster shutter speed if you had the time. Always good to try a few different settings if the bird cooperates! It's usually better to overexpose slightly than to underexpose with a bird (short of blowing out all the white feathers) ...
