Default Swimming

Hi

This was taken at our poolside while everyone was having a swim, including our dogs.
I am very new to taking pics - loving every moment of it - but still need to learn LOTS!! I don't even really know where to start or what to ask. I am spending a tremendous amount of time online trying to learn as much as possible about photography.

Swimming.jpg

Nikon D50
F-stop: f/5.6
Exposure time: 1/1600sec
Focal lenght: 300mm
Manual Mode
Metering Mode: Pattern

1. Please comment on the composition?
2. I have also sharpened the image to get more out of the water - is it too much?
3. Would really appreciate any comments in general - as mentioned above, I'm not to sure where to start.

PS - how do I embed an image into the thread instead of attaching an image? Do I have to belong to a photo-sharing site to make this possible?

Thanks - really appreciate any feedback.

My biggest problem is that even though you told me it's a dog, I can't really make it out.

+1. I studied a bit to see if I could figure it out and gave up.

I see a nose with an ear flying out of it and I think the body underwater but I'm a total dog nerd... On a positive note it's awesomely sharp and you captured the water well! Also love the colours. Can we see some with a better composition?

Boy, that is a positive note -- and I couldn't agree more, too! Good catch....
