I'm new to posting any of my pictures but would love to begin getting some feedback so that I can move forward and improve. I have learned so much already by reading these forums.
This picture was taken through a glass window (not a perfect setting, but one I couldn't pass up). Nikon D7000 Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD (A005) @300mm ISO 1600 F5.6 1/800sec Last edited by adouglas; 01-03-2012 at 09:14 PM. Reason: Original picture was deleted |

Nice little photo. I'm sure you would get better results if you provided the required information per Critique Forum Rules

First of all, Chickadees are ever a favorite of mine....
I'd have to say the light coming in from behind is not doing you any favors. Try a different time of day, re-position the feeder, use a flash, or do whatever else it takes to get the bird illuminated more or less on the same side as the picture is taken on. Chickadees are great photography challenges to get just right because their little black eyeballs disappear into their big black caps so readily. Since it's the nature of all animals, humans included, to zero in on eyes first, I think it's important to provide good eyes in photos. Good front lighting is therefore especially important for this species. Disclaimer: Just my opinion. And being a relative noob myself, I'm not so sure I have a lot of business critiquing anyone else's photos. But since I hope anyone and everyone will feel free to chime in on mine, I will venture likewise with y'all until directed otherwise.
