Default WhiteHorse

I wanted to try and do some PP on this shot,I'm just learning it. What I did was, increase contrast a little and blurred the background. Does that make the photo look artificial? And what about composition? Thanks for all the great input.

Camera GENERAL IMAGING CO. X5
Exposure 0.02 sec (1/50)
Aperture f/3.6
Focal Length 11.2 mm
ISO Speed 80

I think you are on the right track. However, you missed under the horse's chin/neck and in fact I would blur the grass between the fence rails too.

I like the soft "exposure" but I might play around with the levels a bit more.

Lovely horse

Thanks for the advice. Ive tried to make some minor adjustments. Are those levels and complete blur looking a little better?

Thanks again

much better but now you have a distinct bluish cast...I liked the coloring better in the first..

as far as composition, I think the tail is distracting...I would crop this photo just in front of the fence post.

the tail might not bother others though (I show horses so tails are a big thing with me. This one looks a mess and bobbed off)

Default Another Adjustment

I dont know how I missed the blue tint in the other shot, and that tail, I know they play a big part of the horse. But thats what critique is. Thanks for pointing those out to me. I tried to remove all blue and cropped it down to a head shot. Did that help the composition?

I like this crop very much. It really spotlights the gentle expression of the horse, I get a good idea of this particular horse's personality...very nice! I would be very pleased with it if I were the horse owner.

I see some problems with the blur effects around the edges of the horse, you have almost a halo effect (most notable around the ears and along the mane), I am not an expert at Photoshop, maybe someone could help you on how to eliminate that but again, overall, I like it very much.

if you pull back just a bit, the halo isn't as clear but you still retain the focus on his friendly expression...

(I will delete this right away if you object to my posting this)

I do still prefer your crop, if you can eliminate or diminish the halo...

Hey your right, pulling back does make a difference. No I dont mind you posting that. It helps to see what your talking about. I will continue to see if I can get it a little better. Thanks for all the help, you've been great. And thanks for taking the time.
