Took this photo of my rarely compliant lab mix, Yukon, shortly after getting my "Nifty 50" so I was pretty 1.8 happy. Is there anything I could have done better? Would it have worked better if I had included his front legs? The one thing that bugs me is his tag and collar light, I'm having a tough time getting rid of them in Photoshop (newbie). Black dogs sure are tough
Thanks!!![]() EXIF Data Camera: Canon EOS Rebel T1i Exposure Time: 1/500 Aperture: 1.8 Focal Length: 50mm ISO: 200 |

Nice, sharp eyes! I like the DOF. I know how hard shooting animals can be, I'm impressed that you got him this still. The tag doesn't even bother me that much at all. Only critique I have is I'd like to see a bit more of his right eye- it it kind of hidden in the shadows. Overall, nice capture! (I rarely change my 50mm from 1.8 either)

You could remove the collar before shooting ...

That I could have but it was a spur of the moment thing after receiving the lens from my boyfriend as a birthday gift and I didn't really think about it (and I don't particularly like them to be without).
rachb, I agree the partially hidden/shadowed eye bothered me a bit too but man he's kind of a turd when it comes to getting his picture taken. He has a great down-stay but something about the auto focus on cameras drives him nuts, I have a lot of Yuk barking pics as a result. My aussie on the other hand is a pleasure to photograph (and a lot easier as she's a blue merle and not solid black )Thanks for the suggestions. |
