Default Colobus Monkey through chain link

Hey all,

I shot this at the San Diego Zoo.

Do you feel that the chain link in the foreground or bright area in the background is distracting? Also, is there anything I could of done before the shot or in post to minimize the chain link? Fortunately most of the monkeys face is framed in a 'hole' in the fence. Unfortunately I think the left eye is not as bright as the right due to the fence.

Anyways thanks for the help in advance.

It's a bit distracting.
I don't think you were close enough to the fence.

The background is more distracting to me ... it's too bad - the monkey itself is good ... can you darken and/or blur the background more in PP?

Thanks sk66 and crockney for the C&C.

unfortunatelly there was a railing infornt of the fence forcing me to keep my distance.

as far as the PP I don't have a program yet other than Nikons which leaves a lot to be desired.

Considering the conditions under which you took this shot, I think it came out well. The background does not bother me very much, and if you hadn't mentioned the chain link fence, I might not even have noticed it.

Can I assume you focused this shot manually as opposed to autofocus?
