Default Black Eyed Peeps

It's starting to bug me 'cause I'm getting this a lot. At distances like these, most animals I shot have such dark eyes. I could adjust it when close up but not with this. Should I mask the eyes with better exposure? I feel like as a whole, exposure seems okay. But with such dark eyes, I can't tell if it's good enough.

What?

Camera Canon EOS 60D
Exposure 0.004 sec (1/250)
Aperture f/4
Focal Length 100 mm
ISO Speed 100

You would need a flash with a better beemer extender on it to get fill flash on the dog's eyes in the fore ground. Not sure you could even get fill flash on the back dog. At the original image size the dog in the front has brown eyes and they can be seen but are a bit dark due to the back lighting (nice hair light by the way). Probably your best bet is to mask them in post.

OMG THAT ONE! Those are the eyes I've been looking for!

I haven't used my flash yet 'cause it's still alien to me. But thanks for suggesting 'cause I think this is the right time to just use it and learn more about it.

Yes, thank you for noticing the hair light also, since it's what really caught my eyes. But it's all useless without the front dog's eyes visible. I'll try the flash next time.
