Default Hanzou and the Lizard

My main concern is if the image is too blown out. I was aiming for that look but I fear that I have gone over board. My second concern is all the empty space. Does it make the image so unbalanced that it detracts from the image?

Any thoughts, advice, ect will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for taking time to look at my post.

That's a cute shot! My cat likes to chase lizards too.
Hmmm... I don't think it looks too blown out. I think it looks really neat like that.
Yes I do think that there is a little too much empty space there. If it were cropped a little more, then I think that would help it more. Like this, maybe?

Other than that, I would leave it just as it is.

I would not crop it, it looks nice, if you reduce a little the light intensity, then it would be better

I don't mind all the negative space but to me there isn't a clearly defined subject. It is supposed to be the lizard but my eye keeps traveling past him. I would have done a really dramatic wide crop on it and made very little negative space. Framing the top of the cat's skull and a bit below his chin, and then wide out to a little past the lizard. Also, I think the debris around the lizard's tail is distracting, if your have a way to clean that up I recommend it. I would have also taken down the exposure a bit, to me it makes it a bit hard to look at. I still like the brightness of the window (or whatever it is) but its just a bit much to me.

I have attached what I would have done... hope it helps!

You could probably have done a bit wider than that too but I wouldn't have gone out much past that...

Thank you everyone for your great advice and wonderful examples. It's great to see what others would've done as a learning tool.

thanks again
