Default wren family

I have been following this wren family since i found the nest with eggs. The chicks have just left the nest and i got a few pic yesterday of some nice family moments. I was thinking about entering this one in a comp, its a great moment but im not quiet sure if technically it is good enough.
Is there enough DOF, is the blured grass on the sides to distracting, is there enough light on the birds?
Any other help would be greatly appreciated

DSC_3132(web)

Exposure 0.003 sec (1/320)
Aperture f/7.1
Focal Length 300 mm
ISO Speed 640

There are a few more pic on my flickr page if you would like to have a look

Cheers Jo

Congratulations on getting a good shot of them. I don't do birds. They always fly away before I can take the picture.
I think there is enough light on the birds. But I do think that the blurred edges are a little distracting.

I shoot a lot of birds (with my camera, of course) ... you caught a good moment! With birds I like to see the eye - it really makes the shot ... I can't see the eye on the adult wren at all -- black faces with black eyes are difficult but maybe you could light around the eye somehow? Same with the baby - the face is in shadow. Nice pic!

thanks for your comments, I agree about the eyes, the male in this shot has his head turned to the side so his eye is not really visiable, to me it does make him look a little odd. I was going to use a bit of flash but this maybe the last time i get them all together and i didnt want to scare them off.

thanks again Jo
