I like the lighting just as it is. Maybe if the ears were not cut off on the top. I love the kitties facial expression so cute.

Cute Kittie. I also think that having the nose and mouth in focus would've made a better picture. But you're shooting at f/3.2 with a focal length of 60mm; that's not going to do it, unless you back up. That would be a different picture, wouldn't it?

Myself, I like the fact that his eyes are in focus and his mouth and nose are not. The cute little pink nose is light enough that it blends into his face anyway so having it not so sharply focused doesn't feel like a big deal to me. Perhaps if the nose was a darker colour I would feel differently.
I like the lighting as it is and don't feel it needs to be changed. The only thing I find distracting is the tip of the ears being cropped off at the top but I know from experience how difficult it is to frame an animal. Heck, most of the time I just feel lucky to get them in focus! ![]() Overall, great job on your first pet portrait!
