Default Newbie Animal Portrait.

Hi there.

Hope I do this right. Just found the website. Figured I would jump right in.
This would be my first stab at an animal portrait. Had my DSLR for a couple days now and would appreciate any and all input.

This is my cat Evita. Still a young lass at about 5 moths.

Welcome to DPS and congrats on your first post.

I do like this image. The eyes are nice and sharp. The composition works as the eyes are not dead center of the frame.

The only minor things for me are the clipped tip of the cat's right ear and I would like to see the entire collar.

If you can, try that crop and see if it is better. Keep it up.

Default Thank You Hill Country Hack

Your input is much valued.

Unfortunately that is the whole image as is. I clipped the ear and collar when I took the photograph. Whilst messing with setting up the camera I think I move closer to the kitty cropping the frame .

I will have another crack at the shot if I can get her to sit still

Instead of taking the picture in the landscape format maybe you could have taken the photo in the portrait format. I hope that makes sense. That way the collar or ear wouldn't have been cut off. Nice cat btw!

Thank you. You make perfect sense. LOL. I have yet to learn to operate the camera with any level of finesse. Need to learn to also consider landscape as an option. Looking at any pic I have ever taken with any camera. I realize that almost without fail I shoot in landscape.

As for the kitty, I am totally smitten by her. Until I met her I always thought I was a dog person :-)
